The WBA Government Relations Department monitors thousands of legislative proposals, hundreds of administrative rules and advocates for member interests in both Madison and Washington, D.C. These efforts increase the competitive capabilities of Wisconsin financial institutions.
WBA Advocacy Among Strongest in State of Wisconsin
In 2008, WBA ranked 11th in the number of hours spent lobbying (5,266) out of approximately 760 lobbying groups registered with the Wisconsin State Ethics Board. To put this perspective, WBA logged more hours lobbying on behalf of Wisconsin financial institutions than any other group representing financial institutions/organizations combined. And, the WBA Government Relations team accomplished this with less money than over 80 percent of our lobbying peers. WBA spent $87 per hour while Community Bankers of Wisconsin spent $172 per hour and the Wisconsin Credit Union League spent $181 per hour.
