The Wisconsin Bankers Foundation (WBF), the non-profit arm of the Wisconsin Bankers Association, has awarded four Wisconsin students — Mariana Gamez Garza, Melanie Gauger, Ian Mouw, and Nicholas Szczech — with the 2024 WBF Spring Scholarship.
The WBF Spring Scholarships of $2,000 each are open to graduating Wisconsin high school seniors and current college students pursuing higher education at an accredited Wisconsin college, university, or technical college. Recipients are chosen based on their academic achievements, community involvement, career goals, and financial literacy.
Mariana Gamez Garza recently graduated from Fort Atkinson High School and will attend UW–Whitewater in fall to study entrepreneurship and finance.
Melanie Gauger currently works full time as an executive assistant at Citizens Bank, Mukwonago, while pursuing a finance degree at UW–Whitewater.
Ian Mouw recently graduated from Three Lakes High School and will pursue a degree in finance, investment, and banking at UW–Madison in fall.
Nicholas Szczech recently graduated from Stanley–Boyd High School. He works part time at Northwestern Bank and will continue to do so while studying accounting at UW–Eau Claire in fall.
“Mariana, Melanie, Ian, and Nicholas have demonstrated outstanding financial literacy, which is a key component in earning the WBF Spring Scholarship,” said WBF Chair Rose Oswald Poels. “We are pleased to support their continued education and wish them success and fulfilment in their future financial services careers.”
