The Wisconsin Bankers Association has been working in conjunction with Blue-U Defense to offer Wisconsin’s banks a variety of resources on workplace safety. For the protection of your employees, customers and community, it is imperative that your preparation and training, as well as policies and procedures, align with today's reality. Join us on June 6, 7 or 8 to participate in a workplace safety seminar.
The first two registrants for this full day seminar are complimentary for each WBA member bank. Any additional attendee will be a nominal charge of $50. Developed for bank employees, this session will provide attendees with a high level of practical and usable skills to give them options in the event of a violent incident. It will also build on the decision-making skills and offer solid tactics that guide what they should do physically to protect themselves.
Dates and Locations
All three seminars will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and adjourn at 3:00 p.m.
Session 1: Surviving an Incident of Violence
Developed for bank employees, this session will provide attendees with a high level of practical and usable skills to give them options in the event of a violent incident. Practical and monitored drills will take participants to the ultimate level in workplace violence training, skills and protection. Participants will learn how to make critical decisions in fractions of a second in order to protect themselves and others during a violent encounter. The session will also bring a high level of personal comfort and empowerment to all attendees as well as an understanding of both victims and perpetrators.
Session 2: Understanding Tactics - It's Much More Than Run, Hide and Fight!
This session will build on the decision-making skills covered during Session 1. Now that attendees have trained and prepared mentally to react quickly to an incident of sudden violence and to make good decisions rapidly, they will learn the solid tactics that guide what they should do physically to protect themselves. The primary goal is to not be the situation in the first place, followed by escape! The session will include acted out scenarios and drills to demonstrate these tactics.
Session 3: Recognizing Signs of Imminent Aggression and De-Escalation Skills.
If someone comes to your facility to commit an act of violence, recognizing the imminent signs of danger and knowing how to de-escalate the situation can make a tremendous difference in the outcome of the incident. Recognizing the signs of aggressive behavior and making good decisions on how to de-escalate in fractions of a second is key. This session will empower attendees to recognize that everyone has the skills necessary to recognize aggressive behavior and successfully de-escalate. The presentation will help them fine-tune their survival skills using common-sense things that actually work with little or no thought, practice or memory. Attendees will learn how to recognize exactly what the underlying source of the aggression is and then formulate a response that will have an impact on that particular type of aggression.
