On March 22, 2017, tragedy rocked Wisconsin's banking community. A string of shootings in the Wausau area left four dead, including Marathon Savings Bank employees Karen Barclay and Dianne "Dee-Dee" Look.
Both women were beloved by their bank family and the community, and we feel their loss keenly. Together, we grieve for them, their families and the families of all the victims. We honor their memory, and will keep them forever in our hearts.

Karen Barclay, 62, had been a Customer Service Representative at the bank for six and a half years. She was a proud daughter and loving mother to her own daughter, cherished by her two grandchildren and dearly loved by her brother and sister. She was a kind godmother to many and a fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Dianne "Dee-Dee" Look, 67, was an Assistant Vice President and Office Manager and had been with the bank for nearly 19 years. She shared her smile and kind words with the hundreds of people she saw every day at the bank. She will be deeply missed by her family: her husband, daughter, son and grandchildren, as well as her siblings—two brothers and a sister—and their families, and her mother (father deceased). Dianne was also an avid gardener, an animal lover and an artist. The jewelry she crafted brought joy to many and raised money for the American Cancer Society.
Many people from the community and the industry approached the bank seeking a way to support these two families during this difficult time. In response, the bank set up the Barclay & Look Family Fund to provide a way for the community to help. In addition, the bank has provided a separate foundational gift of $30,000 to the Family Fund. Donations to the fund can be contributed via www.gofundme.com/barclay-and-look-family-fund or sent directly to: Marathon Savings Bank, 500 Scott Street, Wausau, WI 54402.
