The Assembly Committee on Financial Institutions will hold a public hearing May 24 on WBA-supported Assembly Bill 280. The bill directs each school board to adopt academic standards for financial literacy and incorporate instruction into the curriculum in grades kindergarten to 12. AB 280 has strong bipartisan support with 40 co-sponsors and was one of the main issues WBA members discussed with legislators during the recent WBA Capitol Day. WBA will be delivering testimony in favor of this important legislation at the hearing. This bill also received support from the Green Bay Press Gazette. Their editorial board wrote in favor of AB 280 after meeting with WBA and bankers from the Green Bay area on this issue.
