WBA’s top legislative priority (Assembly Bill 280, relating to incorporating financial literacy into school curriculum) was unanimously voted to pass the Assembly yesterday. It will now go to the Senate which will likely take on the bill in the fall. AB 280 is a great of example of what a large turnout of WBA members at Capitol Day can do for legislation WBA supports. Two weeks after the event, the Assembly Financial Institutions Committee set the first hearing date for this bill. It subsequently passed through the committee on a unanimous 13-0 vote and then through the Assembly itself. The WBA press release regarding the passage of this important legislation can be found here.
