Leaders from Across Wisconsin's Banking Industry

On June 14, 2017, the 2017-2018 WBA Board of Directors Installation Ceremony took place at the WBA offices in Madison. New officers were installed and new directors welcomed. New chair Frederick Siemers, president of River Cities Bank, Wisconsin Rapids, told the gathered bankers and WBA staff that the association's focus during his term will be on preparing the industry for the future. "The way we've historically done business is about shift, and dramatically. So we need to be ready to take on that challenge," he said. In addition to Siemers, WBA officers for 2017-2018 are Chair-Elect David P. Werner, president & CEO of Park Bank, Milwaukee; Vice Chair Mark Meloy, CEO of First Business Bank, Madison; and Past Chair Cynthia Erdman, president of Partnership Bank, Tomah.

WBA president/CEO Rose Oswald Poels welcomed the new board members and thanked those rotating off this year for their service to the association and the industry. New board members beginning their three-year terms are: Christopher Del Moral-Niles, CFO, Associated Bank, Green Bay; Scot Thompson, president/CEO, Denmark State Bank; and Tom Van Pelt, president & CEO, Citizens State Bank, Hudson. In addition, Ken Thompson, president & CEO, Capitol Bank, Madison was selected to continue serving on the board following his time filling the one-year unexpired term left vacant by Werner's selection as Vice Chair in 2016.

Bankers continuing their terms on the board are: Mary Bomkamp, president/CEO, Highland State Bank; Dennis Doyle, president/CEO, Great Midwest Bank, S.S.B., Brookfield; Sang Kim, regional president – WI/MI, Wells Fargo, Milwaukee; Paul Kohler, president and CEO, Charter Bank, Eau Claire; Scott Kopp, president/CEO, Bank of Galesville; Stan Leedle, Executive Vice President, Choice Bank, Oshkosh; Bill McDonald, CEO, Greenwoods State Bank, Lake Mills; Mark Mohr, president/CEO, First Bank Financial Centre, Oconomowoc; and Marty Reinhart, CEO, Partners Bank of Wisconsin, Spencer.

After the installation ceremony, members of the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 WBA Board of Directors headed to the Capitol to meet with state legislators about a budget amendment WBA is seeking that would create tax parity with credit unions. Along with the WBA committee chairs, the Board met with Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, Joint Finance Committee Co-Chairs Rep. John Nygren and Sen. Alberta Darling, Joint Finance Committee Tax Leader Rep. Dale Kooyenga, Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke, and Financial Institutions Committee Chairs Reps. Terry Katsma and Dave Craig.

WBA Committees and Section Boards

WBA committees serve a vital role in guiding the WBA's service to its members, Siemers told incoming committee chairs after the WBA Board of Directors installation ceremony. Afterward, the committee chairs gathered in the Capitol building with the WBA Board to meet with legislative leaders before re-convening at WBA for their orientation and strategy session (pictured below).
