Witnessing the widespread devastation of Hurricane Harvey has led us to wonder, individually and as an industry, how banks and bankers can help. The ongoing damage of the storm means that it will take a while before anyone can fully appraise the extent of the damage and the needs of the people affected. To begin sharing resources and helping those impacted by the storm, ICBA and ABA have partnered with the Texas Bankers Foundation, the Independent Bankers Association-Texas, the State of Texas Department of Banking, and the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending to put together a fund to help the residents and communities recover from the extensive damage. ICBA has also set up the Hurricane Harvey Community Bank Relief Fund to send financial resources to community bank employees and their families.
