Three tons of potatoes was re-packed by the WBA and FIPCO staff who volunteered recently at the Second Harvest food bank. As part of WBA’s community volunteer efforts, staff worked to re-pack 3 tons of potatoes (and throw out the bad ones) into 25-30 pound crates that could be distributed to area food banks. They also marked up donated egg cartons and filled them with eggs for distribution. According to Second Harvest, one volunteer contributes 65 meals in just one hour of volunteering. They also shared that in the last year, about 11.5 million meals have been sorted and shared to the area banks. Thanks go out to WBA’s Lori Kalscheuer, Nick Loppnow and Jody Roos as well as FIPCO’s Cathy Barnes and Chris McDermid for volunteering to help Second Harvest.
