Don't sign that paperwork just yet! WBA has learned that the Department of Health Services’s (DHS’s) newly selected Medicaid verification data match vendor, Accuity Asset Verification Services, jumped the gun in sending a communication to financial institutions in Wisconsin concerning the Wisconsin Medicaid Asset Verification Data Matching Program. The program has been in place for a number of years; however, on July 18, 2017, DHS sent a letter to WBA and financial institutions to announce the termination of the State’s contract with its previous vendor, HMS.
The letter also stated DHS would reach out to institutions once the process of selecting the new vendor and the details of the new contract were complete. WBA spoke with DHS personnel and confirmed Accuity Asset Verification Services is the vendor, but that DHS did not intend for Accuity Asset Verification Services to make contact with institutions yet. DHS also indicated there are still numerous details to work out including a new contract for data matching to replace the now terminated contracts.
At this time, WBA recommends that financial institutions should NOT complete or sign any documents it receives from Accuity Asset Verification Services in this regard. WBA will report on any developments. If you have any questions, please contact the WBA’s legal department at 608-441-1200 or via email.
