Two suspects in a Stoughton bank robbery have been arrested after a high-speed chase on Tuesday afternoon.

The Stoughton Police Department said they were notified of an armed robbery at Home Savings Bank on W. Main Street around 12:45 p.m. It was reported that two black males wearing dark clothing and armed with guns took off in a silver car with Michigan license plates. The car was headed westbound on U.S. Highway 51.

Police said deputies with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office spotted the car near County Highway B north of Stoughton and pursed the suspect car. The car was traveling 90 miles per hour. The car continued north on U.S. Highway 51, west on U.S. Highway 12/18 with speeds up to 120 miles per hour. The car turned off Seminole Highway, then onto the frontage road, and later crashed near St. Joseph’s Church on the West Beltline Highway. The suspects then took off on foot, but they were taken into custody a short time later.

The FBI, ATF, Fitchburg Police Department, Madison Police Department, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Stoughton Police Department in this investigation.
