Longtime Sun Prairie banker Tom Tubbs will retire on Jan. 1, after 61 years in the business -- at the same bank.

Tubbs, 87, joined the Bank of Sun Prairie in 1957 as a cashier and worked his way up to become president of the bank in 1972, a position he held until 2006.

During that time, the bank's assets grew from $30 million to $252 million.

Tubbs has been chairman of the board since 2006. When he retires, he will continue serving as a member of the board of directors.
