Associated Banc-Corp said Thursday it has closed on its $482 million acquisition of Bank Mutual Corp., a deal that further solidifies Associated's position as the largest bank headquartered in Wisconsin and sets the stage for the end of Bank Mutual's more than 125-year run in the state.
Associated, the Green Bay-based parent company of Associated Bank, said it expects to merge operations of Brown Deer's Bank Mutual into its systems in late June or July. For now, Bank Mutual customers will continue to use their current accounts and other banking services.
Bank Mutual has 58 branches in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota, according to FDIC records. Associated has more than 160 branches in Wisconsin and also is in markets in Minnesota and Illinois.
