The median home sale price in January in the Milwaukee area was the highest it had been in a decade, according to data pulled by the Wisconsin Realtors Association.
For the month, median home sale prices were $170,000, the highest since 2008, when it was also $170,000. January's figure was a 4.7 percent increase from the year-ago period. Statewide, the median sales price for the month of January was $168,500.
In 2017, Wisconsin’s average home sale prices climbed 5.5 percent last year, reaching $174,000.
Realtors in the greater Milwaukee market sold 1,045 homes this past January, 72 more than they did in the same period in 2017, creating a new record for January sales in the Milwaukee marketplace, according to the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors.
