WBA thanks all the members who took the time to write to Congress regarding the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) expiration date. Soon after our request asking members to contact Congress, the House of Representatives passed legislation to extend the National Flood Insurance Program—less than a week before it was set to expire. The Senate plans to address this before it breaks for recess during the week of August 6.

The House bill would extend the NFIP, which is scheduled to expire on Tuesday, through November. A separate plan to extend the program through Jan. 31, 2019, was included in a Senate energy appropriations bill that passed earlier this month and the Senate farm bill that passed in June.
