The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) recently announced Community State Bank (CSB) as an honorable mention for the 2018 National Community Bank Service Awards, which celebrate the outstanding and innovative volunteer efforts of the nation’s community banks.
Community State Bank was chosen from a group of more than 100 nominations for its impactful service and economic empowerment through their newest Union Grove office addition, Shepherds Community Café.
Shepherds Community Café is a collaboration between Community State Bank and Shepherds College and is conveniently located within CSB’s Union Grove office. The café will provide training, work experience and job opportunities for local students with intellectual disabilities.
“This is just the beginning,” said CSB President and CEO, Scott Huedepohl. “Shepherds Community Café is huge for our community and for the students of Shepherds College. It’s changing lives and we’re excited to be a part of that.”
The café serves Stone Creek Coffee and will have a variety of bakery items available for purchase. In addition to café seating, two meeting rooms are available for local community businesses and organizations to use upon request.
“Community service and volunteerism are hallmarks of community banking,” said ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey. “We commend and thank Community State Bank and Shepherds College for their unwavering dedication and commitment to their communities.”
