State Bank of Cross Plains (SBCP) will hold a groundbreaking event on Tuesday, August 28 at 10 a.m. to celebrate its new “bank of the future,” an open-concept branch that will offer advanced technology banking solutions with a personal touch. The building is slated to open in spring 2019.
“As a community bank, we pride ourselves on being in tune with customer needs and responding to those needs with innovative products and services,” shares SBCP Senior Vice President-Commercial Banking Jeff Zwettler. “The way people want and need to interact with their local bank is changing, and we’re ready to make those changes with this new facility.”
The “bank of the future” concept will be evident both inside and out. SBCP’s ATMs will be replaced with more modern ITMs—Interactive Teller Machines—that include a screen for live conversations with a local customer service representative, if needed.
Inside, the space will feel more like an Apple Store®, with individual customer service stations and tablet devices for completing transactions in real time. The updated technology comes with the personal touch of a friendly bank employee to assist with your needs and answer questions.
“It would be easier for us to keep doing business as usual, but that’s not who we are,” explains State Bank of Cross Plains President and CEO Jim Tubbs. “We want to grow and mature and transform into the type of bank that fits the way our customers do business with other modern companies. We’re excited to reinvest in Middleton as our first bank location to offer this new technology and personalized service.”
The two-story building will replace the current State Bank of Cross Plains branch office on the same lot at 8301 University Ave. in Middleton, with a presence closer to the intersection of University Avenue and Deming Way.
Architecturally, the building’s modern technology will be complemented by natural elements throughout the interior and exterior. Extensive glass, stone, and cedar shiplap siding will create clean lines and texture on the exterior. A cantilevered roofline draws strong horizontal banding, giving a nod to prairie-style architecture.
The two-story atrium will welcome guests and employees into the building with floor-to-ceiling glass and contemporary lighting fixtures. Large windows throughout the building set a light and bright tone for all areas. The second-story balcony overlooks the entry.
Once inside, the natural light and modern interiors will continue, using color, stone and wood accents, and contemporary furnishings. Key areas have inlaid wooden ceilings, stone accent walls, LED cove lighting, a tiled fireplace, and a coffee nook that continue the visual flow.
State Bank of Cross Plains has partnered with Iconica to provide architect and contracting services for the new facility. Iconica is an integrated design-build firm focused on innovative architectural and engineering solutions delivered by in-house construction managers.
