Wisconsin’s monthly unemployment rate in July remained unchanged at 2.9 percent, continuing to fluctuate at historically low levels.

The monthly index fell below 3.0 percent in February for the first time and has hovered at 2.8 percent or 2.9 percent in the six months since then. Until this year, the state's previous record unemployment rate was 3.0 percent in 1999, when the nation was enjoying a tech-led economic boom.
