Markesan Bancshares, Inc. is proud to announce that at their most recent Annual Shareholders meeting that the shareholders voted to add three new directors to the Board of Directors. 

Local business owner newly elected was Gary Born. Born is a shareholder and President of Huberty & Associates, S.C. a certified public accounting/investment firm with offices in Fond du Lac, Ripon, Sheboygan, Plymouth, Markesan, and Minocqua, WI. Currently he oversees the firm’s Ripon and Markesan locations. Gary attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater graduating with a BA degree in Accounting. He obtained his CPA certification in 1981.

Michael Glod was also elected. He is the owner of Glod American Family Insurance with offices in Markesan and Lomira, WI. Michael earned his BA degree with a double major in Marketing and Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Glod’s agency has been awarded the American Star Award for Excellence in Customer Experience by American Family. 

The third new board member elected to the Board of the parent company of Markesan State Bank was Debra Lins. Lins currently serves as CEO & Director of the Bank. She received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI, and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Business Administration, from Lakeland College, Sheboygan, WI. Debra has over 38 years of experience in the community banking arena. 

Alan Zastrow, Chairman & President of Markesan Bancshares, stated “we are very fortunate and proud to have these business and community leaders join our board. We know they will all add a new perspective and additional dimension of strength to the Bancshares and the Bank board upon approval.”  

These newly elected board members join the Bancshares legacy directors also elected to serve a one year term: Thomas Ballweg, Owner of Ballweg Implement Co., Inc.; Daniel Kok, CFO and COO of Markesan State Bank; Theodore Robl, Owner of Ted’s Piggly Wiggly; Robert Tillema, Owner of Dairyland Automotive Center; DeAnn Thurmer, COO and Chief Nursing Officer, Waupun Memorial Hospital, Interim COO and Chief Nursing Officer, Ripon Medical Center; Alan Zastrow, retired President of the Bank.
