North Shore Bank is planning a new branch with an urban feel.

The Brookfield-based business plans to convert an apartment building at 510-516 E. Pleasant St. in Milwaukee into its newest office. An application submitted to the city states that the new branch would improve the property with “modern addition areas,” such as a raised terrace and professionally designed landscaping to give the site a “new life and new use.”

Susan Doyle, North Shore Bank’s senior vice president of retail banking, said customer requests and development activity were factors in the decision.

“We wanted to establish a presence in this part of downtown for a long time,” she said. “With the area’s continual development, and the fact that we have a lot of customers already living in the area who’ve expressed an interest in us having a presence there, the growth of that area just made a lot of sense for us to take advantage of an opportunity to put a branch there.”

The new site will bring North Shore’s branch count to 45 locations, Doyle said.
