BankBeat magazine announced their 2018 award recipients for their Outstanding Women in Banking Award. Sharon Manke, First Bank Financial Centre’s Security Officer and Oconomowoc resident, was 1 of 6 women awarded. From tellers to presidents, BankBeat profiles bankers who have gained the respect of peers, bosses, and customers by providing outstanding service, thoughtful management, or innovative leadership.

Manke lives and breathes the First Bank Financial Centre (FBFC) mission of Make Lives Better by offering up the equivalent of 46 work days as a volunteer. Manke simply wants the community she loves to be a place where people enjoy living, working, and visiting. She strongly believes in leading by example, as she would never expect anyone to do something she is not willing to do herself. It is this type of leadership that fuels the successful events she is part of in Oconomowoc.

As a representative of FBFC, Manke strives to get the word out and speak to different age groups regarding current fraud trends. She has worked closely with the Oconomowoc Police Department to put together information for senior centers and nearby schools to protect individuals from falling victim to different types of fraud.

As the President of the Board of Directors for the Oconomowoc German Christmas Market, Manke helps plan an event that brings the community together each holiday season. All proceeds from the food and beverage sales are donated to local charities. Awarded the Non-Profit of the Year Award by the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce, the German Christmas Market is a place where residents and visitors can celebrate their heritage. The marketplace provides free entertainment while showcasing the local shops, restaurants, and hotels.

Serving as the President of the Lutheran Homes Service League, Manke works tirelessly to enhance the residents’ lives through various programs. She even volunteers for the Service League’s retail venture, the Forgotten Treasure resale shop. The shop raises funds for Lutheran Homes by selling quality new and used items in a boutique-like atmosphere.

Manke also helps to organize Kids Fest of Oconomowoc; a fun, affordable activity where parents and children alike can gather to enjoy outdoor activities. Sharon coordinates all of the sponsors and vendors to ensure a high-quality experience for all who attend.

FBFC is proud of Sharon and congratulates her on this highly respected award.
