The median statewide sales price for homes in Wisconsin rose 5.1 percent in October when compared with the year-ago period, going from $173,650 in October 2017 to $182,500 this year, according to data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association.
Through the first 10 months of 2018, median prices have risen 6.4 percent to $184,000.
In specific counties across the state, however, the percentage increase is much higher. In Rusk County, prices have skyrocketed 91.7 percent in the past 12 months, from $80,000 to $153,350.
The Wisconsin Housing Affordability Index fell from 219 in October 2017 to 196 this past October, which is a 10.5 percent reduction in affordability over the last 12 months, according to the WRA.
