Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., on Thursday was named chair of the House Financial Services subcommittee on consumer protection and financial institutions.
The full Financial Services Committee — chaired by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif. — announced all six subcommittee chairs, including the appointment of Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, as head of the newly created diversity and inclusion subcommittee. The full committee is also expected to create a fintech task force, but has not yet announced its membership or leadership.
Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., also announced who will be the ranking Republicans on each subcommittee.
Rep. Lacy Clay, D-Mo., will chair the subcommittee on housing, community development and insurance, which was previously chaired by Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis. Duffy will remain the top Republican on the housing subcommittee.
