Banks are the backbones of their communities, supporting them in difficult times. The current government shutdown is no exception. The WBA is highlighting this by compiling a list of banks and the special products/services they are offering customers impacted by the shutdown.

On Friday, January 11, five federal regulators and state regulators recently encouraged banks to work with consumers affected by the federal government shutdown. The agencies asked banks to consider prudent efforts to modify terms on existing loans or extend new credit. Within one week, thanks to its members, WBA was able to share its list with regulators to show that Wisconsin banks already are actively helping their customers at over 800 location throughout the state.

The list will also be shared with lawmakers, media outlets, and the public. It’s critical to reinforce with these groups that banks are the backbones of their communities, supporting them in difficult times. It will also give the public a resource to turn to during this stressful time.

The list is housed at www.Banconomics.com and has a searchable map of locations as well as a list of banks, including specific contact information. The list continues to grow as WBA receives responses on how our members are helping their customers.

If your bank should be on this list, please email WBA's Eric Skrum.
