Associated Banc-Corp's acquisition plans for the Wisconsin operations of Huntington Bancshares Inc. has received regulatory approval.

The Green Bay-based financial company said Friday that its subsidiary, Associated Bank, received the requisite approvals for its pending plans to take over branches of The Huntington National Bank around the state. The two companies entered a purchase agreement for the transaction in December.

Associated Bank expects to close the deal in June, according to a news release.

Under the agreement, Associated Bank would take over about $850 million in deposits, $134 million in loans and 32 branch locations from Huntington.

The company would also close 17 offices – a mix of its own and those of Huntington – to consolidate its physical footprint.
