As I reflect on the two days of inspiration, networking and learning of our most recent WBA BOLT Summer Leadership Summit, I am reminded of a quote from President John F Kennedy: “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”
WBA’s BOLT Summits and activities are a phenomenal place to learn and grow as the future leaders of Wisconsin’s banking industry. Learning at BOLT takes on several shapes and forms. Outstanding presentations from industry leading speakers, peer discussions and role-specific breakout sessions, and networking opportunities with fellow bankers and future leaders are just the beginning. As we look to the future, it is clear how vitally important it is to grow and develop future leaders of our organizations. BOLT activities and events are focused on just that! Education, networking, and advocacy make up the three pillars of BOLT, and all are represented in several components of each BOLT event.
In addition to attending WBA events and growth opportunities such as BOLT, I am a huge advocate of continued individual professional development. In a funk and looking for a new source of leadership ideas and motivation? A quick search and you’ll find literally thousands of articles and quotes to get you started. As the next generation of banking leaders, it’s critically important for us to keep learning—whether that’s attending a BOLT event, networking in your community, or signing up to receive a weekly email link to leadership articles and resources—keep learning and expanding your knowledge as a leader.
