The hemp industry is growing quickly in Wisconsin, but some people who sell hemp and CBD products are running into some issues with financial institutions.

Back in May, CBS 58 reported on Beyond Full Spectrum, a Waukesha business that sells hemp products like CBD and how their bank closed their account.

Their bank, Summit Credit Union, told them they legally could not consider working with a business that sells hemp or CBD because they could be out of compliance with state and federal laws.

The Wisconsin Bankers Association is hoping to help the situation by informing its members about the hemp industry at events where experts explain how banks can navigate the new landscape.

Experts say there's confusion about state and federal regulations and how they fit in with the hemp industry in Wisconsin, but they believe informing them will address those concerns and help the industry continue to grow.
