Last week, the Senate Committee on Transportation, Veterans and Military Affairs advanced the nominations of two Evers Cabinet officials for consideration of the full senate. Transportation Secretary-Designee Craig Thompson and Veterans Affairs Secretary-Designee Mary Kolar were unanimously recommended by committee members.

The GOP-led has yet to confirm any of Evers' nominees with six so far voted out of committee. Republicans have been hesitant to confirm the nominees in response to the governor's decision to rescind some of then-Governor Scott Walker's appointments made during the lame-duck session. Those appointments were ultimately restored by court order.

Nominees get paid and act as secretaries regardless of the vote. However, should the Senate vote them down they would be immediately removed from office and ineligible for any other appointment during Gov. Tony Evers' first term.
