Steve Zeman, president of Union State Bank in West Salem has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2020.
Zeman has served as president since July 1, 2007 and has advanced Union State Bank into a state-of-the-art community bank through advanced technologies while remaining committed to quality lending practices and exemplary community and customer service. Zeman will continue to serve on the bank’s Board of Directors after retirement.
Zeman has been with Union State Bank since 2004 and in community banking for 45 years. He began his career in 1975 with the Bank of Alma, then worked for Ettrick State Bank before he and his family moved to Melrose, where he worked as vice president of Black River Country Bank until 2004.
He has been an active participant in the West Salem community serving on the West Salem Community Foundation Board, West Salem Lions Club, West Salem Boys and Girls Steering Committee, West Salem Business Association and the Western Technical College Financial Advisory Committee. He also served on the Melrose-Mindoro School Board and was a volunteer firefighter for 25 years with the Melrose and Nelson Volunteer Fire Departments.
Zeman served on the Community Bankers of Wisconsin Board from 2009-2015.
Zeman and his wife Karla reside in West Salem.
