Sue Mares has announced her retirement from Premier Community Bank after 27 years of service. Mares’ banking career began in 1992 at the Marion branch as administrative assistant to then-President Dick Pamperin and is retiring as senior vice president of Human Resources.

“I was given an amazing opportunity here at Premier to learn and grow in my career,” explains Mares. “I really owe a debt to Dick Pamperin for that and I’ve worked to give others the same opportunity to learn and grow in their role at Premier.”

Mares continued to grow in her experience and education, eventually overseeing human resources and serving as board secretary. In that time, Premier grew from four branches to ten, with over 100 employees.

“One of the things I’m most proud of is the culture that we built as a company. Our values are clear, and our people live them every day,” explains Mares. “You can see those values on display in events like our MAD (make a difference day) where the entire staff volunteers in their communities each October.”

After retirement, Sue looks forward to spending time with her family and more volunteer activities in her local parish in Bear Creek and in her community

“Sue has been a critical part of our success for the 27 years,” said Premier Community Bank President Tom Pamperin. “I’ve had the privilege to work with her for most of those years and her dedication to the team at Premier has been unmatched. She embodied our values, setting an example of leadership that we should all strive for. We are thankful for all she has done to put the right people in the right positions to help them succeed individually. We will miss Sue but her leadership will live on in all those employees she influenced.”
