Brost Retires as Mortgage Lender

Becky Brost, Prevail Bank’s assistant vice president & mortgage loan originator in Medford, retired on May 12, 2023, after 47 years in the lending industry.

“I will miss my co-workers and the awesome customers I have had over the years. Many of them have become more than just co-workers and customers,” said Brost.

Brost, a lifelong resident of Medford, started her banking/lending career at Farmers State Bank in Stetsonville in August 1976 as a loan secretary.

“We had gotten a loan to buy our home from Farmers State Bank. As we were closing on the loan, John Greiner, president of the bank, asked if I wanted to come work for him. I had been working in the office at Hurd Millwork at the time and really wasn’t looking to leave. One Friday night, he asked me to come down and talk to him; it was 9:30 p.m. when I finally told him; ‘Fine, John, I will come work for you.’ The rest is history. I owe a lot of my knowledge from him.”

It was when the staffing at Farmers State Bank/Associated Bank was being reduced to three (3) days a week, that Brost received a call from Jeff Mueller. He advised her that Time Federal Savings Bank (now known as Prevail Bank) had a loan officer position opening up. She accepted it (May 2005).

“I always said that if I ever left Associated, I could see myself at Time Federal,” said Brost. “And do you know what was the most humbling when I made the move? Many of my customers followed me. It was heartwarming to learn I made a difference.”

“Over the past 47 years, Becky has dedicated her time to help area residents pursue their dream of home ownership,” said Brent Arndt, senior vice president & mortgage manager. “She took pride in what she did, and it shows in her accomplishments and by the sheer number of people she’s assisted. She will be missed.”

The first thing Brost says she looks forward to after retiring is sitting on her deck, drinking coffee, and watching the world go by. She plans to spend more time with her grandkids, at the lake, and just ‘taking off’ when the mood strikes. She intends to do more sewing, cooking, and learning how to crochet as well.
