Community State Bank’s 100 Women Who Care – Western Racine County Raises $6,500

Community State Bank organized and hosted the 2nd Annual 100 Women Who Care – Western Racine County event on Wednesday, February 15 at 1841 Farms and Vineyard in Burlington, Wis. 100 Women Who Care is a nationwide initiative that provides women with the opportunity to support non-profit organizations in their community.

“The attendance at this year’s event doubled from last year. Over 60 women joined the mission to support their local community,” said Community State Bank Burlington Market President Becky McClelland. “This event was developed by Community State Bank to provide women in our community with the opportunity to give back to non-profit organizations that serve Western Racine County. The response was overwhelming and we look forward to continuing to grow.”

The $6,500 donation is a collaboration of funds from attendees. Each guest was asked to bring $100 in the form of a blank check or cash in order to enter the event. Guests were also encouraged to nominate a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves Western Racine County. The group then votes to choose a recipient of the funds.

This year’s chosen recipient was Transitional Living Center (TLC). TLC is located in Kansasville, Wis. and provides shelter and resources to families that are encountering homelessness. The facility can hold up to 12 individuals per night and provides shelter to over 60 individuals on an annual basis. The nomination for Transitional Living Center was presented by event attendee, Kristen Olsen (Agent Owner | American Family Insurance).

“This was my first time attending 100 Women Who Care – Western Racine County, and I loved it,” said Olsen. “I nominated TLC because I believe that everyone needs a hand up at some point in their lives and I think that TLC does a great job of doing that for our community, while also providing resources to individuals to help them grow and become independent.”

Community State Bank presented the $6,500 donation to Transitional Living Center Executive Director Cristen Chaffee on Friday, February 17. Funds will be used to purchase necessary supplies for the current residents at the shelter, which is at full capacity.

“100 Women Who Care was such a powerful event,” said Chaffee. “Each time I am presented with the opportunity to thank community members for their support and talk about the families we serve, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. Emotions brought on by their willingness to give of their time and money which in turn allows us to be a source of hope for these families. Thank you so much to each of the women that attended the event and nominated TLC. We are so grateful.”

Community State Bank plans to host the event annually. For more details about 100 Women Who Care – Western Racine County please visit CSB.bank/100wwc.
