WBA Principles of Banking

Principles of Banking is intended to give those who are new to banking a general understanding of the industry. Recognized as the most comprehensive introduction to the banking industry for over 40 years, it introduces fundamental banking concepts and principles, the basics of how banks operate as service providers and businesses, their obligation to operate in a safe and sound manner and manage risks, and the responsibilities of bank employees in a customer-focused financial services environment.

WBA will host the course in two locations during the fall of 2023, each being a two-day session starting at 8:30 a.m. and adjourning at 4:30 p.m. daily.

  • September 26–27, 2023 at the Wisconsin Bankers Association Office in Madison, WI
  • October 25–26, 2023 hosted by CCFBank at the Cranberry Country Lodge in Tomah, WI

Who Should Attend?
This course is recommended for personnel new to banking at all levels or those who just need a refresher.

Registration Information:
The registration fee of $550/person includes all workshop materials, a hard copy of the 12th edition Principles of Banking textbook, and daily refreshment breaks and lunch. Register early as space is limited!

Refund Policy: A refund, less a $150 administrative fee, is provided for written cancellations received by WBA 10 or more business days before the start of a school. All requests for cancellations or substitute registrations must be provided in writing to WBA Education.

Course Credit:
Principles of Banking may be applied to many ABA Certificate and Diploma online programs. This course is recommended for one ABA Credit.

Need a Hotel Room?
We do not have a hotel room block for the school. However, there are many hotels nearby both locations. Please contact the education department if you have any questions or concerns.

How money supply, the banking system, the Federal Reserve and the federal government are all interrelated, and how changes in the financial system can affect individuals, businesses, and governments on a world-wide basis are covered.

The required textbook for this course is Money and Banking.
