Bank Accounting Basics: Preparing a Statement of Cash Flows – 2 Part Series
Learn the “math” behind the calculations and reporting items in the statement of cash flows for your institution. Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) Topic No. 230, Statement of Cash Flows, provides the guidance and applicability on the reporting requirements for cash flow statements.
This two-part series will provide the participant with an understanding of both cash and non-cash transactions and where to report each in the statement of cash flows and supplemental disclosures. Typical transactions and activities will be broken down into operating, investing, and financing activities as required under applicable accounting and disclosure guidelines.
Participants should possess an understanding of the basics of accounting with a desire to increase their knowledge and understanding of more complex activities, including the preparation of a statement of cash flows that is included in a set of audited financial statements.
