What is cryptocurrency? How does it work? Join Brian Laverdure, AAP, Vice President, Payments and Technology Policy at ICBA for an introduction to cryptocurrency! Brian will review fundamental cryptocurrency terms, mechanics, and concepts. He will guide attendees through the evolution of cryptocurrency from Bitcoin’s creation to recent market and regulatory developments.

Patrick Sells, Head of Bank Solutions at NYDIG, will be presenting on the world of bitcoin and banking. Banks have always played a role of trusted financial educator and a place to access and protect assets, this should be true of bitcoin as well. This session will cover a high level understanding of what is bitcoin, the regulatory landscape regarding bitcoin, and how banks and fintechs are offering bitcoin related products and services. With over 20% of Americans owning bitcoin today, it's time for banks to play a more pronounced role and the great news for bankers is that the data shows overwhelming desire by consumers for them to do so!
