The Wisconsin banking industry has a storied history of philanthropy and service to communities across the state. The Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) established the Wall of Excellence in 2020 to honor bankers whose leadership reflects the generosity and stewardship at the heart of our profession. WBA is proud to enter its sixth year of recognizing Wisconsin’s most distinguished banking professionals — individuals who have demonstrated outstanding community service, civic involvement, and inspiration to their own teams.
The Wall of Excellence currently profiles the faces and stories of 32 Wisconsin bankers — some of whom were recognized posthumously — for their exceptional commitment to their communities and demonstration of the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and enthusiastic service. Permanent plaques celebrating these individuals and families are on display in the WBA Engagement Center in Madison and are seen by thousands of bankers from every corner of the state who visit our headquarters annually. A celebratory induction ceremony with lunch, featuring speakers from the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) and Congress, will be held on September 11 in Madison to honor the Class of 2026 Leaders in Banking Excellence.
The WBA Leaders in Banking Excellence is our organization’s most prestigious honor, and nominations to join this year are being accepted now through Friday, May 15, 2026. Nominators will honor their approved banker or family by making a $10,000 contribution to the Wisconsin Bankers Foundation (may be tax-deductible as a charitable contribution), the industry’s public charity focused on improving financial literacy and education, among other activities, across our state.
It is a joy to work alongside so many inspiring leaders and bear witness to the many invaluable contributions bankers have made to our industry. Thank you for considering this opportunity to nominate yourself or another to join the Class of 2026. Please do not hesitate to contact me at ropoels@wisbank.com with any questions.
