First State Bank Donates $50K to the New London Public Library Expansion

First State Bank recently presented a check for $50,000 to the New London Public Library expansion project. The funding follows the bank’s announcements earlier this year to build a new corporate headquarters in downtown New London and donate its iconic building on W. North Water Street to the library.

“The library’s vision to develop an innovative library and community resource center will be a catalyst in transforming New London’s downtown and will benefit the entire New London community,” said First State Bank President and CEO Bob Van Asten. “There are many community members and businesses who have already made significant contributions to the library project; we hope others will join us in supporting this vision.”

First State Bank will transfer ownership of its building to the library after its new corporate headquarters opens later in 2023.
