Forward Bank Announces Promotions Within Board Leadership

Forward Bank is proud to announce promotions within leadership on its Board of Directors. At the April 2025 Annual Meeting, Jon Pesko was elected to serve as Chair of the Board, succeeding Al Michalski, who has been a dedicated board member for 17 years serving as Chair for the past 3 years. Additionally, Forward Bank is pleased to formally welcome Dawn Balow to the Board of Directors, as she steps in to represent the Lake City, Minnesota community replacing Mark Prenger.

Jon Pesko brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to Forward Bank’s mission in his new role as Board Chair. His steady leadership and strategic vision will guide the Board during an important period of innovation and continued community investment. Pesko has been an advocate for sustainable growth, responsible governance, and local engagement, all pillars of Forward Bank’s long-term strategy.

“It’s an honor to serve as Chair,” said Pesko. “I look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation that Al’s leadership has fostered over the last 3 years, the dedication that all of the Board has demonstrated, and to ensuring Forward Bank remains a trusted partner for the communities we serve.”

Mark Prenger, a respected CPA who has served the Lake City community for over 40 years, joined the Lake City Federal Bank board nearly 30 years ago. Following the successful merger with Forward Bank, Mark played a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth transition that upheld the community-first values both institutions shared.

“As a long-time board member, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in Lake City,” said Prenger. “Forward Bank’s arrival has provided the community with access to enhanced services while staying true to the values of community commitment that mattered so much to Lake City Federal Bank. I’m confident in the future direction of the Board under Jon’s leadership and with Dawn’s involvement.”

A lifelong resident of Lake City with a legacy rooted in civic service, Dawn Balow joins the Forward Bank Board of Directors with a focus on community development and education. After a successful career in healthcare sales, consulting, and SaaS implementation, Dawn served on the Lake City School Board for 24 years and currently sits on the Lake City Education Foundation board.

“I’ve always believed that a thriving business environment and a strong education system are essential for the health of any community,” said Balow. “Forward Bank exemplifies what it means to invest in people and places, and I’m excited to support that mission as a Board member.”
