Daniel J. Peterson, president and CEO of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNBT), has been elected to serve as the 2022–2023 Board chair of the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA).
The Wisconsin Bankers Association is the state’s largest financial industry trade association, representing more than 200 commercial banks and savings institutions, their branches, and over 35,000 employees.
“We are pleased to welcome Dan as chair of the WBA Board,” said Rose Oswald Poels, WBA president and CEO. “He is an outstanding business and community leader who is well equipped to serve the banking industry in this role.”
Peterson began his banking career in 1988 when he joined SNBT in Marinette, Wis. Prior to assuming his role of president and CEO in 2013, he gained experience in all lending areas of the bank, serving as head of the commercial loan department in 2003.
A DePere, Wis. native, Peterson is a graduate of Abbott Pennings High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Norbert College. In addition, he has completed numerous professional courses through WBA, including the General Banking School, Commercial Lending School, and its two-year Leadership Program. He also completed the rigorous three-year Graduate School of Banking Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Peterson has been a banking advocate throughout much of his 34-year career. He previously served on banking boards such as the WBA Bank Executives Conference Advisory Board; the FIPCO Board (Financial Institution Products Corporation), a subsidiary of WBA; and the American Bankers Association Community Bankers Council.
Peterson has served on numerous boards of directors for non-profit organizations around the Marinette area, and he is currently the president of the Peshtigo Lion’s Club.
Also serving as officers on the WBA Board are: Chair-Elect Donna Hoppenjan, president and CEO, Mound City Bank, Platteville; Vice Chair Al Araque, SVP, director of consumer and private banking, Johnson Financial Group, Racine; and Past Chair Ken Thompson, president and CEO, Capitol Bank, Madison.
Joining the Board for three-year terms are Paul Hoffmann, president and CEO, Monona Bank; Ryan Kamphuis, president and CEO, Bristol Morgan Bank, Oakfield; Greg Lundberg, president and CEO, Fortifi Bank, Berlin; and Tom Mews, president, First National Community Bank, New Richmond.
Those continuing their terms on the Board are: Jim Chatterton, president and CEO, National Exchange Bank & Trust, Fond du Lac; Jay Mack, president and CEO, Town Bank, N.A., Hartland; Paul Northway, president and CEO, American National Bank – Fox Cities, Appleton; Greg Ogren, president and CEO, Security Bank Shares, Inc., Iron River; Joe Peikert, president and CEO, Wolf River Community Bank, Hortonville; Jenny Provancher, CEO, The Equitable Bank, S.S.B., Wauwatosa; Dan Ravenscroft, president and CEO, Royal Bank, Elroy; and Terry Rosengarten, president and COO, Unity Bank, Augusta.
Board members who completed their terms in 2021–2022 are Mark Erickson, regional president of MidWestOne Bank, Osceola; Paul Kohler, president and CEO of Charter Bank, Eau Claire; Tim Kotnour, president and CEO of State Bank Financial, La Crosse; and Mark Wierman, president and chief lending officer of Ixonia Bank.
