North Shore Bank’s New Mitchell Street Branch to Open February 20

North Shore Bank, celebrating its centennial anniversary in 2023, has announced the opening date for a new branch located at 1316 W. Forest Home Ave. The new office, which replaces the bank’s branch formerly located inside of the El Rey Foodmart, will open on February 20.

The community bank announced late last year that the branch inside the grocery store would move across the street into newly constructed branch space as longtime partner El Rey needed space to accommodate its growth. When North Shore Bank originally opened inside El Rey Foodmart in 2004, it was the first bank branch inside a multicultural supermarket in the region.

“While it’s bittersweet to officially leave our space inside El Rey Foodmart, we’re thrilled to be able to continue to serve our customers directly across the street in larger, renovated space,” said Alfredo Martin, vice president and community engagement manager for North Shore Bank. “Our commitment to El Rey and the community it serves remains stronger than ever. We are already looking forward to our annual Race for the Hungry partnership with El Rey as well as financial seminars and 100th anniversary celebrations coming soon for the community.”

The new branch will feature three private offices, expanded lobby space, bilingual staff (Spanish), a self-service coin counter, and teller services. North Shore Bank is working directly with customers to assist with the transition, and Martin will continue as manager at the new location.

While the North Shore Bank inside the El Rey Foodmart will officially close at 5:00pm on Feb. 17, a video teller and ATM will remain inside the grocery store for easy banking accessibility for all customers. The walk-up ATM that is accessible from the exterior of the store will also remain available. In addition to the relocated branch at 13th and Mitchell Streets, neighborhood customers also can visit the nearby Jackson Park location at 4230 W Oklahoma Ave.

In celebration of the new office, the bank is inviting people to enter to win $500 in Free Groceries in their February 20—March 31, 2023 online giveaway, holding Race for the Hungry to benefit Milwaukee Christian Center, and more.
