PremierBank Announces New Chief Financial Officer

Joe Clary

PremierBank is pleased to announce that Joe Clary, CPA has joined the bank as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. As a member of the bank’s executive leadership team, he will provide strategic financial leadership while overseeing the bank’s accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and financial operations. Clary replaces prior CFO Peggy Stebbins who was recently promoted to PremierBank President.

Clary brings more than a decade of progressive leadership experience in banking, financial reporting, and accounting. Throughout his career, he has served as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and boards of directors, helping organizations strengthen financial performance, improve operational efficiency, and maintain the highest standards of financial stewardship and regulatory compliance.

Clary began his career in public accounting, where he advanced from Accountant to a management role, building a strong foundation in financial reporting, audit, and technical accounting across a variety of client engagements.

Prior to joining PremierBank, Clary served as Area Controller for a Midwest home services organization, where he led financial operations across multiple companies and partnered with executive leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance initiatives. Previously, he served as Controller for a publicly traded financial institution with more than $3 billion in assets, where he directed the accounting and financial reporting functions. In that role, he oversaw regulatory reporting, internal controls, audit management, and financial planning, while also leading initiatives that modernized financial systems and improved reporting efficiency.

“Joe’s strong financial background, proven leadership, and commitment to excellence make him a tremendous asset to PremierBank. We are fortunate to have him leading our finance team and helping guide our continued success,” said Peggy Stebbins, President of PremierBank.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Clary is an active leader within the financial community. He currently serves as President of the Madison chapter of the Financial Executives International (FEI), where he helps lead professional development and networking opportunities for senior financial leaders throughout the region. He also serves on the Finance Committee for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dane County, providing financial oversight and strategic guidance in support of the organization’s mission to empower young people to reach their full potential. A Rock County native, Clary brings a personal connection to one of PremierBank’s key areas of focus for future growth, and understands firsthand the value that a trusted community banking partner brings to the families and businesses of that region.

“Joining an institution with 163 years of community banking legacy is not something I take lightly. PremierBank has built something rare – deep roots, a strong team, and a clear vision for what comes next. I am honored to be a part of that future and committed to bringing the financial leadership this organization deserves as we continue to grow and serve the communities that have trusted PremierBank for generations,” said Clary.

Clary earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and International Business from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Wisconsin.
