Port Washington State Bank recently welcomed Karen Stroud as its new vice president – controller. In her role as controller, Stroud will oversee daily operations in the bank’s accounting department while managing a team of three associates. In addition to overseeing various reporting tasks, she will play a crucial role in monitoring and stewardship of the accounting department’s diverse responsibilities.
“Karen’s experience and methodical approach will benefit our institution immensely, but we are also excited to leverage her leadership skills to support our exemplary accounting team,” explained James Schowalter, president and chief operating officer.
Stroud is a 30-year banking industry veteran with extensive experience both on the financial technology side and the banking side. Her position will be based out of the bank’s headquarters in Port Washington where approximately 65 of its 130 employees work. She will report to the bank’s Chief Financial Officer Cindy Nierode, joining a substantial portion of female leaders at the bank, where the current ratio of women in leadership is 68%.
