Head Back to School with WBA Education!

Upcoming education opportunities for Wisconsin bankers

Looking ahead to August and the fall, WBA has several schools and boot camps coming up that are open for registration! Each school offers in-depth learning experiences for various roles of staff within your bank. Visit wisbank.com/education for more information about these schools and register online to secure your teams’ seats in the schools.

Agricultural Lending School
August 22–24 | WBA Office, Madison

This school was developed as an intermediate-level school. Case studies, in-class work, class discussions, and a farm visit are all elements of this school. An optional pre-school workshop will be hosted on August 21, geared towards those ag lenders and credit analysts who would like to strengthen their foundational knowledge of ag financial statements, the 6 C’s of Credit, and look at some initial ratios.

Deposit Compliance School
August 29–31 | WBA Office, Madison OR Virtual

This three-day school was designed to provide you with a strong foundation of the various deposit regulations affecting your bank, the current trends in compliance, and the resources you need following the school. Bank retail and branch staff will benefit from this school, in addition to compliance and audit staff. A registration option is also available for those interested in just attending the full day of Regulation E on August 31.

Auditing Real Estate Loans Boot Camp
September 5–7 | WBA Office, Madison

Internal audit and mortgage loans continue to be hot topics in banking, and this program was developed to meet that training need! Attendees will learn how to prepare for the audit and then go through specific regulations and their corresponding audit needs. This program is offered every other year.

 Branch Manager Boot Camp
4-part Virtual Series (Half-Day Sessions) – Next series starts on September 20

Attendees will join other branch leaders from all around the country for this virtual series, focusing on the critical skills and expectations that need to be developed to ensure that the next generation branch manager will exceed expectations and goals set for them. Attendees will engage in discussions, small group activities, and skills practices to ensure that ideas are shared and learning is entertaining and adopted.

Principles of Banking – 2-Day Accelerated Course
September 26–27 | WBA Office, Madison
October 25–26 | Hosted by CCFBank at Cranberry Country Lodge, Tomah

Recognized as the most comprehensive introduction to the banking industry for over 40 years, this course introduces fundamental banking concepts and principles, the basics of how banks operate as service providers and businesses, their obligation to operate in a safe and sound manner and manage risks, and the responsibilities of bank employees in a customer-focused financial services environment.

Consumer Lending Boot Camp
October 3–4 | WBA Office, Madison

This program was developed to help bankers build the foundation and skills necessary to become a successful consumer lender or processor. Students will learn the process of basic lending and then put it into practice through various exercises and case studies. In addition to the classroom instruction and discussions, attendees will receive a copy of ABA’s 7th edition Consumer Lending Textbook to use as a resource for additional learning back at the bank!

Supervisor Boot Camp
October 16–17 | WBA Office, Madison

This two-day dynamic, interactive workshop is just what all supervisors need – both new and experienced supervisors will benefit! The program includes exploring the coaching and leadership skills that lay out a plan for your success as a highly effective supervisor. You will find this experiential training opportunity invigorating, motivating, and applicable to managing and supervising others. Scholarship application available through September 1!

Commercial Lending School
October 18–20 | WBA Office, Madison

As WBA’s advanced level* commercial lending and credit school, this school builds on the knowledge of experienced lenders and credit analysts to take their skills to the next level. Faculty-led instruction, case studies, in-class work, and class discussions are all elements of this school. Scholarship application available through September 1!

*Prior attendance at the WBA Introduction to Commercial Lending School, equivalent online coursework, or at least two years of working experience commercial are highly recommended before attending this school.

Personal Banker School
November 14–15 | WBA Office, Madison

This school has been designed to get personal bankers up to speed quickly by providing them with the techniques and knowledge they need to successfully sell, cross sell, refer and service the banking industry’s ever-expanding list of financial products. Attendees will leave the school better equipped to provide your customers with exceptional product knowledge and customer service.
