SNBT Title Sponsor of World Fest: A Captivating Music Journey through South America

LADAMA

The next concert in the World Fest Series features LADAMA, a South American female collective. They will perform a free community-wide concert on Saturday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m. at Theatre on the Bay, at the Bayshore Arts Center, on the campus of UWGB-Marinette.

According to its biography, LADAMA is a pioneering force in the music industry’s female collectives. With a decade of groundbreaking innovation, Lara Klaus (Brazil), Daniela Serna (Colombia), and Mafer Bandola (Venezuela) lead the project by blending Latin American influences to craft a rich, dynamic sonic experience. Their music, driven by instruments like the bandola llanera, tambor alegre, pandeiro, and more, showcases their prowess as instrumentalists, composers, producers, and music mediators. Through original compositions in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, they weave together rhythm, percussion, and traditional melodies, infusing them with a contemporary flair. Experience their captivating journey through music that resonates with wild, tender, and diverse energy.

A program of Arts Midwest, World Fest connects Midwestern communities to international musicians to foster an understanding and appreciation of our global uniqueness and differences. The concert is free, but space is limited; therefore, tickets are required for entrance. Concert doors open at 5:00 p.m. and seats are reserved for those with tickets. People can pick up tickets at any office of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNBT), Main Street Antique Mall, and Bayshore Arts Center formerly known as Theatre on the Bay.

During their visit in September, the members of LADAMA will provide workshops for students from surrounding schools. Featuring a modern twist on traditional and non-traditional instruments from across the Americas, they produce original work that socially engages communities on a global level.

“This three-year World Fest residency has been a huge hit, with every artist feeling the warm embrace of our community,” said Kim Brooks, the local event organizer. “Hosting musicians of this caliber, like LADAMA, is rare and unforgettable treat.”

SNBT is the title sponsor among a generous group of businesses and individuals. SNBT has always been synonymous with supporting the communities in many ways, from encouraging staff volunteerism, to making charitable donations, and now the list also includes international music appreciation.

Sponsors include: Provident Health Foundation, M&M Area Community Foundation, Riverfront Inn, Rusty Wolfe Studios, The Print Shop, and many other local donors.

World Fest is a project of Arts Midwest and is sponsored by the National Endowment of the Arts which brings six international ensembles to communities in Midwestern states. Marinette/Menominee has been selected as the city in Wisconsin to receive this incredible opportunity through Spring 2025.
