After decades of dedicated leadership, Mound City Bank – Platteville, prepares to bid farewell to two remarkable leaders. Donna Hoppenjan, CEO, is set to retire alongside Nancy Salzmann, VP Deposit Compliance/BSA Administrator on December 31, 2025.

Both Donna and Nancy began their careers with the bank as tellers. Their journeys through Mound City Bank reflect a deep understanding of operations and a steady progression built on hard work, leadership, and dedication. Under their leadership, the bank has grown to $515 million in assets.

Donna joined the bank in 1977 and has been a driving force behind its success ever since. Her unwavering commitment to maintaining a locally owned, independent, community bank has guided her leadership for nearly five decades. Known for her ability to inspire and lead a dedicated team of banking professionals, she has also championed a culture of giving back. She leads by example through her own community involvement and encourages her team to stay deeply connected to the people and places they serve. “I have always embraced my mantra of wearing a smile and making it your customer’s best day by going above and beyond being compassionate and helpful. Going above and beyond for our customers is good for our soul and builds lifetime relationships.” said Donna.

In 1988, Nancy joined the bank and has held a wide range of positions throughout her career. Her versatility and deep understanding of our operations have made her a key contributor to the bank’s continued growth. Always up for a challenge, she has shown a genuine passion for learning new departments and guiding teams toward success. Her steady leadership and collaborative spirit have left a lasting impact across the organization. Recently, Nancy shared “I’ve always prided myself in helping the customer any way I could & I love the statement “Thank God it’s Monday!” because I GOT to come to work & hopefully help make someone’s day better!”

After decades of dedication, Donna and Nancy leave behind more than just impressive résumés, they leave a profound mark on the organization. Mound City Bank President Mike Phillips reflected on their impact, saying: “I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to work alongside both Donna and Nancy. Their unwavering dedication and loyalty to the employees, customers, shareholders, and Board members of Mound City Bank have left a lasting impact. Their contributions have not only strengthened our organization but have also solidified their remarkable legacies.”
