Citizens State Bank of Loyal recently welcomed Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (WDFI) Secretary, Wendy Baumann and Deputy Secretary, Catherine Haberland for a visit focused on the current state of community banking and the economic conditions impacting Central Wisconsin communities.
The visit provided an opportunity for DFI leadership to meet with the bank’s senior management team, learn more about the institution and its markets, and hear firsthand perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing community banks in Central Wisconsin.
Discussion topics included the overall health of the bank and its local economies, workforce recruitment and talent development, the needs of agricultural and business customers, and emerging concerns affecting community financial institutions. The bank’s leadership also shared observations regarding economic activity within the communities it serves, and the important role community banks continue to play in supporting local growth and investment.
“We appreciated the opportunity to host Secretary Baumann and Deputy Secretary Haberland and engage in a meaningful discussion about the issues affecting community banking in Central Wisconsin,” said Bank President/CEO, Travis Holt. “Community banks have a distinct perspective on the economic health of the communities we serve, and we value DFI’s commitment to listening to bankers across the state.”
The visit reflects DFI’s efforts to engage directly with Wisconsin financial institutions and better understand the challenges and opportunities facing local banks and the customers they serve. Open communication between regulators and community bankers helps foster a strong and resilient banking system that supports Wisconsin’s businesses, agricultural producers, families, and communities.
CSB Loyal appreciates Secretary Baumann and Deputy Secretary Haberland taking the time to visit and for their continued work within Wisconsin’s community banking industry.
