Farmers & Merchants State Bank Appoints Robert Helvey as New Vice-President of Producing Mortgage Sales Manager

Farmers & Merchants State Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Helvey as the new Vice-President of Mortgage Lending. With over 25 years of experience in the mortgage and banking industry, Robert brings a deep understanding of the loan processes, including sales, operations, and underwriting, to the F&M team.

Robert Helvey, a lifelong Wisconsin resident, joins Farmers & Merchants State Bank from US Bank, where he served as Mortgage Retail Branch Manager. Known for his creative approach to product development and strong belief that the “why” is as important as the “what,” Robert has a proven track record of success in problem-solving, leading by example, and effective communication both individually and in group settings. He is committed to educating employees and customers, which he views as core to business success and sustainability.

Robert is highly active in the community and the industry. He holds both a real estate sales and broker license and has held numerous leadership positions, including past president of the Mt. Horeb Rotary Club, former chair of the REALTORS® Association of South Central Wisconsin’s (RASCW) Ghoulish Gallop committee, board member and current Vice President for the Realtor Housing Foundation, and former president of the Madison Chapter of the Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association. He is also the Past-President of the Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association.

An alumnus of UW-Whitewater, Robert graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BBA in business. His commitment to excellence extends beyond his professional life, having completed six Ironman triathlons. His accolades include the 2012 RASCW Presidential Service Award, the 2014 RASCW Affiliate of Distinction, and the 2023 Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association Best in Leadership Award.

In his new role, Robert will oversee all aspects of mortgage lending operations at Farmers & Merchants State Bank, including product development, customer service, and business development. He will also be responsible for fostering relationships with real estate professionals, community organizations, and customers to ensure that F&M continues to deliver exceptional value and service.
