Badger Bank Takes Initiative: Assembling Summer Food Kits for Kids in Need

On Juneteenth the team from Badger Bank assembled summer food kits for local school children and families facing food insecurity.

As the summer season kicks off, Badger Bank stepped up to support local children and families facing food insecurity with the launch of its Summer Food Kit initiative. Tammi Windl, Marketing Coordinator of Badger Bank and Sara Ariss, Executive Director of the Jefferson Food Pantry, joined forces in recognizing the heightened challenges many families experience during the summer months when school meal programs are not available. The duo worked together to create a plan that would benefit all the communities Badger Bank serves. On Juneteenth the bank is closed for a federal holiday. The bank decided to continue its theme of taking that day to volunteer in the community. Windl and Ariss executed a plan that also brought a strong team building session to the event. The proactive step of assembling and distributing food kits ensures no child goes hungry.

The Summer Food Kit initiative is part of Badger Bank’s ongoing commitment to community welfare and support. Each kit includes a variety of nutritious items aimed at providing balanced meals and snacks for children throughout the summer break. These efforts are particularly crucial in Jefferson County, where children rely on school meals during the academic year.

“We are deeply committed to the well-being of our community, especially its youngest members,” said Dave Keleher, President of Badger Bank. “No child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, especially during the summer when school meals are not available. Through our Summer Food Kit initiative, we aim to alleviate some of the burdens faced by families and ensure that children have access to nutritious food during this critical time.”

The Summer Food Kits were distributed through Jefferson County School Systems, leveraging their expertise and reach to ensure that the kits reach those most in need. Badger Bank is also encouraging community involvement through volunteer opportunities and donations to support the Jefferson Food Pantry and surrounding food pantries.

This initiative underscores Badger Bank’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement. By addressing food insecurity among children, Badger Bank hopes to make a meaningful impact on the lives of local families and contribute to the overall health and well-being of the community.
