Burgess Retires From National Bank of Commerce
After 11 years at the National Bank of Commerce, and a total of 45 years of service to banking, Steve Burgess is retiring from his role as the bank’s president and CEO.
Burgess has previously served as president and CEO of State Bank Financial (La Crosse, Wis.) for 11 years, president and CEO of M&I Central Bank and Trust (Marshfield, Wis.) for seven years, and president and CEO of the First National Bank of Neillsville for 12 years. In 2021, Burgess was recognized as WBA’s 2021 Banker of the Year.
During his retirement celebration held on January 4, WBA’s Daryll Lund presented Burgess with the Association’s Lifetime Service Award commending his long service to the industry.
Burgess will continue to serve in a director capacity on the NBC and NATCOM boards but is looking forward to spending more time with his family and continuing to run Burgess Family Sugarhouse, the family business he and his wife, Kathy, have grown with the help of their five children.
