Executive Letter: Inspire Success Throughout Our Industry

By Rose Oswald Poels

The Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) depends on the active engagement and collaboration of bankers to fulfill our mission of advocating for, educating, and supporting our members. This pursuit is made even more impactful by the countless volunteers who help shape and inform WBA’s initiatives by contributing their diverse knowledge and talents as a representative of WBA’s 13 committees, sections, and advisory groups.

Comprised of seasoned professionals and emerging leaders from WBA-member banks, these groups represent a number of areas within the industry. From agricultural banking and mortgage lending to marketing and government relations, your team members can pursue opportunities based on their roles and/or interests.

In working alongside their peers and the staff at WBA, volunteers see firsthand how their unique ideas, insight, and connections can leave a lasting impact on Wisconsin’s evolving banking landscape. Throughout their term (typically three years), members may produce resources for WBA’s Best Practices Library, influence legislation that WBA staff lobby for, tailor educational programs and events on behalf of the membership, and much more.

Serving as a volunteer for a WBA committee, section, or advisory board is an excellent opportunity to give back to the banking industry and inspire success in the thousands of bankers who utilize the WBA’s services every year. Many bankers also find their volunteer experience to be extremely beneficial for their professional development.

Volunteers appreciate the opportunity to form and foster invaluable connections, explore their career-related interests, receive special discounts to select educational programs, and establish themselves as industry leaders. As Candy Allard of Badger Bank said of her experience on the Human Resources Committee: “This was one of the best decisions I made. It’s great to be able to give my input and be heard.”

Those interested in working with WBA to lead tangible and meaningful change, are encouraged to complete the volunteer form for the 2024–2025 fiscal year (beginning June 1, 2024) now through Monday, March 11, 2024. Your participation helps make WBA a relevant and impactful resource for the bankers we serve.
